Highlands
Fitzpatrick acquired this site to design and build a bespoke home with an emphasis on renewable energy and to demonstrate our green credentials. By far one of the most technically advanced homes of its kind, using modern design technologies with a focus on renewable energy and innovative control systems.
The main house constructed with Beco block and a traditional green Oak frame with a thatched roof and comprises five bedrooms and four bathrooms. The guest house has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, office, double garage and workshop. The barn/pool house had a retracable floor and steam room.

This breath-taking site lies within a 19 acre plot of land on an ancient chalk grassland on the summit of Chinnor Hill, neighboring Chinnor Hill Nature Reserve.
This bespoke home was designed with an emphasis on renewable energy. Low grade water heating is pprovided by two ground source heat pumps which are fed from 1.6 km of geothermal pipe underground and in the pond. Further heating and hot water is provided by a 40 m2 evacuated tube arrays. (3 x 22 tube and 3 x 30 tube array) Heating and hot water is further supplemented by a cast-iron fireplace cauldron which is piped like a back boiler to provide additional hot water and heating to the storage tanks.
Whole house heat recovery ventilation is connected to a 60 meters of Rehau ductwork underground through which fresh air is drawn into the house. This cools the air during the Summer months and warms it in Winter, as the ground remains constant at approximately 12 degrees all year round.
The NuLock Solar PV roof tile system is incorporated into the pool house roof covering 86 m2 which provides an average 15 kW of electricity daily. A battery bank made up of 48 cells stores 2000 Ah of electricity allows the house to operate entirely off grid. The system is connected to the National Grid who buy back surplus energy that is generated by the property.

The house also has its own sewage treatment and wetland system which deals with all sewage generated.
Lighting, roller shutters, sockets and all energy plant is controlled by a KNX building management system. Each circuit is addressable and can be controlled from a phone or online. The logic within the system directs the energy created to where it will be stored or used.
